You will pick up a lot more speed and if you jump with a normal parachute. It was quite a high chance you might actually break your legs when you land because you just come in too hard, too hard. So you’re right to ask the question. You need an extra large parachute effectively to break more, there’s less air there, hence also why you need the oxygen mask.

He continued, “Anyways, we had wind when we jumped out, we had a 60 second freefall. Which is quite long when you’re free of holding, you know and when you’re doing it above Everest and Ama Dablan all the other tall peaks there. I mean, my God, it’s gorgeous. You take a little bit of risk, whatever you’re comfortable with, but the reward will then come. And in this case, the reward with this amazing, gorgeous landscape with Himalayas all around me. I mean, it was just unbelievable. And yet I was falling at terminal velocity of 170 kilometers an hour just racing down there. But it was gorgeous and incredible.”
