The American rocket producer XCOR is to offer commercial flights into space – and the first passenger on its list is the Danish financier and adventurer Per Wimmer, according to Kristeligt Dagblad.
The rocket is to blast off in 2011 at the latest.
Wimmer has also booked two other space flights and is thus likely to become the first Danish national in space.
THe XCOR flight is expected to introduce a newer and cheaper form of space tourism – offering several hours of a bird’s eye view of the earth from space for about DKK 1.2 million.
“This is a lifelong dream that is being realised,” says Per Wimmer who adds that the project is rather like an ‘easyjet in space.’
